Leaving Rose
In my oil paintings, I move between representation and abstraction. With every painting, the question arises anew of how far to dissolve a motif and how much support a line should give the surface.
I am preoccupied with the relationship between the individual and the whole: when do the parts of a painting come together in a rhythm, a kind of community, and when does something emerge from it and become a fixed point that draws the eye? And what happens when many strong stimuli act upon us? Does the loud prevail, or can something quiet also draw the gaze?
Transparent glazes allow earlier layers to show through as traces. Unpainted white areas make the work appear fragmentary and point to the fleeting nature of moments and emotional states. Luminous colours stand alongside fine gradations, a symbol of the richness of human feeling.

Leaving Rose
In meinen Ölbildern bewege ich mich zwischen Gegenstand und Abstraktion. Bei jedem Bild stellt sich mir neu die Frage, wie weit ich ein Motiv auflöse und wie viel Halt eine Linie der Fläche geben soll.
Mich beschäftigt das Verhältnis zwischen dem Einzelnen und dem Ganzen: Wann fügen sich Bildteile zu einem Rhythmus zusammen, einer Art Gemeinschaft, und wann tritt etwas daraus hervor und wird zum Fixpunkt, der den Blick auf sich lenkt? Und was passiert, wenn viele starke Reize auf uns einwirken? Setzt sich das Laute durch, oder kann auch etwas Leises den Blick auf sich ziehen?
Transparente Lasuren lassen frühere Schichten als Spur durchscheinen. Unbemalte weiße Stellen lassen die Arbeit fragmentarisch erscheinen und verweisen auf die Flüchtigkeit von Momenten und Gefühlszuständen. Leuchtende Farben stehen neben feinen Abstufungen, als Sinnbild für die Vielfalt menschlicher Empfindungen.
